About Us

Hudson, Jones, Jaywork & Fisher is one of southern Delaware's oldest and largest law firms. Although tracing its roots back to the 1950's when David P. Buckson (later Attorney General and Lt. Governor of Delaware) shared offices at 225 south State Street in Dover with William S. Hudson, the firm's formal origin was in 1977 as "Hudson, Jones and Jaywork." Since that time, the firm has grown to exceed fifteen attorneys with offices in Dover, Rehoboth Beach and Georgetown.
Hudson, Jones is a full-service firm providing legal counsel and representation in many areas of law including automobile accidents and other personal injury, civil litigation, business law, residential and commercial real estate transactions, criminal law, municipal, zoning and public utility law, domestic relations, bankruptcy and creditor relations, wills and estates, and administrative law.
The Dover Office, still at 225 South State Street, now occupies all of the buildings between historic Wesley Church and North Street. In this complex, twelve attorneys and twenty-three support staff utilize the firm's many resources to service its clients. With a large- in-house law library and direct access to on-line research, the attorneys and paralegals at Hudson, Jones can readily access the statutes and latest case decisions so critical to providing sound legal counsel. Meetings and depositions are facilitated by the office's three large conference rooms, and real estate closings are quickly and professionally handled by the firm's real estate department which occupies an entire wing of the complex. Situated only a block from the Kent County Courthouse, the Delaware Supreme Court, the Kent county Administration building, the Delaware Corporations Department, the Delaware General Assembly, and Dover City Hall, Hudson, Jones is conveniently located to serve its clients where their needs require.
The Rehoboth Beach Office, at 309 Rehoboth Avenue, is staffed by three full-time attorneys and is often used by attorneys from the Dover office to meet with Sussex county clients. Located on the main street of The Nation's Summer Capital, the Rehoboth Beach office also provides a wide range of legal services and is especially known for what the resort area demands most: real estate, condominium, and homeowners association law. Hudson, Jones' Rehoboth Beach office is centrally located in the heart of the Rehoboth real estate and banking sector and is only 30 minutes from the Sussex County Courthouse in Georgetown.
The Georgetown Office, at 100 North Bedford Street, is staffed by two full time attorneys and is used by attorneys at the dover office and the Rehoboth Beach office to meet with Sussex County clients. Located near The circle in Georgetown, the Georgetown office is in the heart of the Georgetown legal, banking and real estate community. The Sussex county Courthouse (housing the Delaware Superior Court, the Delaware Court of Chancery, and the Court of Common Pleas) is within one block, as is the Family court of the State of Delaware and Sussex county Administrative Offices, Council Chambers, and Planning and Zoning Department.
The guiding principles of Hudson, Jones can be summarized in three words: Quality, Service, and Trust. Our attorneys constantly strive to provide the best legal services possible within the constraints of our clients' instructions; our attorneys recognize that this learned profession is a service business involving the provision of professional services on a personal basis; and our attorneys believe that trust is the single most important feature of the attorney-client relationship. Hudson, Jones has built its practice on these principles and the fact that many of our clients have been with us for over two decades attests to our commitment to them.
Hudson, Jones, Jaywork and Fisher offers a variety of billing arrangements depending upon the nature of the matter and the client's preferences. This includes hourly rates, flat fees, contingent fees, and agree-result hourly rates. Initial consultations on personal injury cases are free.
